The United States became the most prosperous and powerful nation in the world in a relatively short period. This was no accident. Our founders labored to learn and put principles of freedom into practice. They described these principles in the Declaration of Independence and codified them in our Constitution. Since then, many Americans have taken freedom for granted. We must know our founding principles in order to regain our lost freedoms.
The Founders helped create a form of government that changed America and the rest of the world. To accomplish this, they vested the power of governance in the people of America. In other words, they gave the power of ultimate governance to you and me. We must recognize that this system makes it so that you and I are the foundation of America. For some, they feel this means that they have no say or influence as they vote with millions of others. What this really means though is that we each have a God-given duty to use the powers bestowed upon us wisely and well by making decisions that are proper not just for ourselves but for the entire country. As individuals that are the ultimate governors of the land, we have a duty to speak truth and help others understand truth as well.
To make proper decisions about America, we have to keep America on a firm foundation. The Founders left us with solid principles like checks and balances, due process, rights retained by the people, etc. In order for America to continue to prosper and grow as a country, its founding principles must remain strong. If we choose to or encourage others to choose to move America away from its founding principles, we are shifting America away from the foundation that gave it life and success, a foundation established by God.
As we come to understand the principles that have built America, we can help others understand them too. The more we know, the more persuasive we become, and the more persuasive we become in truth, the better America will be.
